UP Scholarship 2026-27: Class 9 and 11 Applications Open, Class 10 and 12 Renewal Closes 25 August

The Uttar Pradesh scholarship portal has opened for the 2026-27 session. Fresh online registration for Class 9 and Class 11 students started on 11 August 2026 and runs to 21 September 2026. The tighter deadline is the renewal track: students already receiving the scholarship in Class 10 and Class 12 have only until 25 August 2026 to renew their application and hand the hard copy in at school.

These dates come from the official timetable published on the Uttar Pradesh Scholarship Portal at scholarship.up.gov.in, under the “पूर्वदशम (9 & 10) एवं दशमोत्तर (11 & 12)” schedule for session 2026-27. Filing the form online is not the last step — a final print has to reach your school, and there is a separate, later deadline for that.

The renewal money-transfer stage for Class 10 and 12 is scheduled for 29 September to 5 October 2026, and for Class 9 and 11 fresh applicants the transfer window falls on 25 to 31 January 2027. Those are departmental processing dates, not something a student has to act on.

Renewal or fresh? The mistake that costs students a year

This is the single most common error, and the department’s own instruction sheet for students calls it out. If you applied last year and did not receive the money, the instinct is to assume the old application failed and start a new one. That is wrong. The official instruction is that a student who already applied must renew the earlier application in the next class, not fill a fresh form.

In practice that means:

• Class 9 or Class 11 this year, applying for the first time — Fresh application, window closes 21 September 2026.
• Class 10 or Class 12 this year, applied last year — Renewal, window closes 25 August 2026.
• Renewal students fill only a limited set of fields: marks obtained and total marks in the last exam, date of admission to the current course, and their own board registration number.
• Enter your marks exactly. They are cross-checked against the result data uploaded by the board, so a mismatch flags your record.
• If your result has not been declared yet, there is a “Result Not yet Declared” option. But if the result still has not arrived by the end of the correction period, or you fill it in and do not get the form re-forwarded by your school, the department treats the record as rejected.

Documents and details to keep ready before you start

The official student instruction sheet lists what you should have in hand before opening the form:

• Mark sheets and certificates of your last qualifying exam.
• Caste, income and domicile certificates — issued online.
• The compulsory annual non-refundable fee amount for your course. Get this figure from the school rather than guessing.
• Your board registration number (not needed in the first year of a course).
• Aadhaar number, and a bank account in the student’s own name.

Two matching requirements catch people out. First, the name, father’s name, gender and date of birth on your high school mark sheet must match your Aadhaar card exactly. Second, the bank account must be Aadhaar-seeded and mapped in NPCI — if seeding has not been done, the application cannot be completed and the payment can fail later. Your bank branch does this. Keep the account active, keep a minimum balance, make sure no upper limit is set on incoming credit, and do at least one transaction every three months.

Give your own email address and the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. A mobile number already used on someone else’s application will make your final print invalid.

How the application actually works, step by step

1. Register on the portal and pick Fresh or Renewal in the Student section.
2. Complete Aadhaar demographic authentication. Renewal students verify Aadhaar number, name and date of birth and enter an OTP sent to the Aadhaar-linked mobile. Fresh students complete KYC through DigiLocker first. Only after this can the form be temporarily locked.
3. Fill personal, academic and bank details, and create your own password.
4. Before locking, re-check the entries that are hardest to fix later: high school and intermediate roll numbers, caste and income certificate numbers, marks obtained, the approved annual fee, and the category you selected.
5. Submit. Three days later the final print becomes available. In those three days, errors in your certificate numbers, income, application number or roll numbers are displayed on your login for correction — everything except the high school roll number can be fixed there.
6. Take the final print, attach the required documents, submit it at your school, and collect the acknowledgement receipt.

Step 6 is not optional. The department’s instruction is explicit: without the final printout being submitted to the institution, the application is not treated as filled at all. Even after a correction inside the permitted window, the revised form only counts once the corrected final print has been submitted and the institution has forwarded it.

If you are filling the form at a cyber cafe, the official advice is to sit there while every entry is typed, take a print, check it yourself, and only then submit. What gets an application rejected

• Wrong, incomplete or false entries. The department states that responsibility rests entirely with the student, and the application is cancelled with no scholarship payable.
• Using someone else’s records. If another student’s Aadhaar number, high school roll number, bank account, or income or caste certificate is found on your form, the application is cancelled and penal action can follow against both the student and the institution.
• Reusing a mobile number already used on another application — the final print will not be valid.
• Applying after failing. The instruction sheet says failed students should not apply under any circumstances.
• Waiting for the last date. This is listed as an explicit “do not” — portals slow down and schools need time to verify and forward.

If your record lands in the “suspect” category, you have to answer the reason online with supporting evidence, routed through your school. Answers not supplied inside the displayed window can be rejected by the district-level scholarship committee.

Tracking your application, safely

You can check status yourself by logging in with your own ID and password. When your institution forwards or rejects the application, an SMS also goes to the mobile number on the form.

One safety rule matters more than the rest, and it is the department’s own: never share your Aadhaar number, high school roll number, bank account number or the password you created with anyone. No genuine official, school clerk or helpline will ask you for a password or an OTP. If someone does, that is a fraud attempt, not a formality.
