UP Board Class 9 and 11 Registration: Signed Photograph Must Be Uploaded by 20 August 2026

Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has added a new condition to the advance registration of Class 9 and Class 11 students for session 2026-27: the candidate’s photograph carrying their signature must now be uploaded along with the registration data. The notice, published on the board’s own website, is blunt about the consequence: a registration without a signed photograph will be cancelled, and the responsibility for that rests entirely with the school. Registration is a school-side process, so no student logs in themselves — but the deadline is worth knowing about, because a cancelled Class 9 or Class 11 registration is what later blocks a student from sitting the 2028 High School or Intermediate exam.

Who exactly does the 20 August 2026 deadline apply to

It applies to Class 9 and Class 11 students of session 2026-27 whose advance registration was submitted before 9 August 2026. For that group, the data is already on the portal but the signed photograph may not be — and that is the gap the board is asking schools to close by 20 August.

For anyone registered on or after 9 August 2026, there is no separate photo deadline, because the two now have to be uploaded together. If the school tries to submit registration data without the signed photograph, the submission will not be accepted at all.

Class 9 and Class 11 advance registration feeds into the 2028 board exams. It is a different track from the Class 10 and Class 12 registration for the UP Board exam 2027, whose official schedule has its own set of deadlines — do not mix the two up when your school sends a message home.

What a “signed photograph” means here

The notice asks for the candidate’s photograph with their signature — a single image carrying both. It does not publish a pixel size, file format or file-size limit, so anything you read elsewhere claiming exact specifications is not coming from this notice. Ask the school what the upload portal is accepting before you get photos printed or scanned.

Two practical points that come up every year with board registrations: the name and spelling attached to the photograph should match the school record exactly, and the signature should be the one the student will keep using through Class 10 or Class 12. Board registration entries are hard to change later — the same trap that catches students filling an online exam form, where some entries genuinely cannot be undone.

What students and parents should actually do this week

• Ask the class teacher or school office one question: has the signed photograph been uploaded for this student, or is it still pending?
• If it is pending, ask what the school needs from you and by when — schools usually collect these in a batch, and the school’s internal cut-off will be earlier than 20 August.
• Check that the student’s name, father’s/mother’s name and date of birth on the registration match the school record and the documents you will use later.
• Keep a copy of whatever you hand over, and note the date you gave it.

One safety note, because registration season brings out fraud: UPMSP registration is done by the school on the board’s portal. No genuine official will call or message a student or parent asking for a password, an OTP, an Aadhaar number or a payment to “complete registration”. If you get such a call, do not respond to it — check with the school directly.

Why the board is tightening this now

UPMSP has not published a reason alongside the notice, so it would be guesswork to give one. What is visible is the direction of travel: a signed photograph captured at Class 9 and Class 11 becomes the reference image the board holds for two years, which is the point at which a board can check that the person registered, the person sitting the exam and the person on the marksheet are the same. Several boards have moved the same way — CBSE, for instance, has restructured how and when Class 10 students are assessed under its two-board-exam system for 2026-27.
