Class 9 to Class 12 students can apply for the SBI Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship 2026-27 until 4 September 2026. The school category pays ₹15,000, and the two conditions that decide whether you qualify are simple to check at home: at least 75% marks (or 7.5 CGPA) in the previous academic year, and annual family income of ₹3,00,000 or less.
Applications opened on 22 July 2026 and are made on the official SBI Asha Scholarship portal, which SBI Foundation links directly from its own Asha Scholarship page. Both dates and both eligibility conditions below are taken from that official portal, not from news reports.

Note the income limit carefully. The school category caps family income at ₹3 lakh, which is lower than the ₹6 lakh limit that applies to the undergraduate, postgraduate and medical categories on the same portal. A lot of students assume one figure covers the whole scheme. It does not.
Documents required for the SBI Asha Scholarship
- Previous year marksheet — this is what proves the 75% or 7.5 CGPA.
- Income proof — an income certificate, Form 16A, or salary slips.
- Bank passbook — the portal states an SBI account is preferred.
- Bonafide or admission proof from your school, plus the latest fee receipt or fee structure.
- Caste certificate, if you are applying under a reserved category.
- A family photograph of the applicant.
Get the income certificate started first. It is the one document that depends on a government office rather than your school, and it is the usual reason an application is still unfinished on the last day. Everything else you can collect in an afternoon.
A note on safety before you apply
Scholarship season brings a matching season of fake scholarship pages. Apply only through the official portal linked from SBI Foundation — reach it from sbifoundation.in rather than from a search result or a forwarded WhatsApp link. No genuine scholarship asks for an application fee, an OTP, your net-banking password or your card details. You will need to share bank account details for the transfer, but that is on the application form itself, never over a phone call.
Other scholarship windows worth checking now
If the ₹3 lakh income limit rules you out, or you want to apply for more than one, the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) carries the central government school schemes for the 2026-27 academic year, including the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship and the pre-matric scholarships. Several of those windows close through late August and October, so check the closing date on each scheme card rather than assuming a common deadline. We also covered the Azim Premji Scholarship 2026 for girl students, which closes on 31 August.
