CBSE has fixed 16 to 19 August 2026 as the window to apply online for verification of marks and re-evaluation for the Class 10 Main and Second Board Examinations 2026. The fee is Rs 300 per answer book for verification and Rs 100 per question for re-evaluation. The dates and fees are in Annexure-I of the CBSE notice Post-Result Declaration Facilities to the Students of Class X, Main and Second Board Examinations-2026 (CBSE/Coord/Verification/Class-X/2026-27), dated 5 August 2026.
There is one condition that decides everything else, and most coverage skips it: only students who already obtained the scanned copy of their evaluated answer book can apply for verification or re-evaluation. That scanned-copy window ran from 5 August to 9 August 2026 and has now closed. If you did not apply for the scanned copy in those five days, the 16–19 August window is not open to you.

Who can apply for verification and re-evaluation
CBSE has built the process in two stages, and the notice states in capitals that only candidates who have obtained the scanned copy of the evaluated answer book are eligible to apply for verification of marks and/or re-evaluation. The logic is that you are meant to read your own answer book first, compare it against the question paper and the marking scheme on the CBSE website, and only then decide whether a mark is genuinely wrong.
Two more limits are worth knowing before you apply. Verification and re-evaluation are available only for the theory portion of the examination, not for practicals or internal assessment. And re-evaluation is carried out for a full question, not part of a question — you have to select the whole question and give your reason for the request.
If you took a subject in both the Main and the Second Board exam
Students who appeared in both examinations can obtain the scanned answer book of the Main exam, the Second exam, or both. But for verification or re-evaluation, CBSE allows only one answer book per subject — either the Main answer book or the Second answer book. Once you choose one, the notice says the other cannot be considered for these facilities in that subject. Decide which paper you actually think was marked wrongly before you pay.
Your marks can go down, and that decision is final
This is the part to think about carefully. The notice says revised marks may increase, decrease or stay the same, and that a decrease of even one mark will be implemented. The result of verification and/or re-evaluation is final; no appeal or further review is accepted. If your marks change either way, you have to surrender the mark statement cum certificate you already hold, and CBSE issues a fresh one.
There is one piece of good news in the fee rules: if your marks increase after verification and/or re-evaluation, the fee is refunded to the same account it was paid from.
So apply when you have a specific, identifiable reason from reading the scanned answer book — a question left unmarked, marks added up wrongly, a correct answer scored zero. Applying on a general feeling that the total “should have been higher” carries a real risk of ending up lower. How the application works
- The entire process — request and payment — is online. CBSE will not accept any offline application, and nothing after the scheduled date and time.
- Fee is paid only by UPI, credit card, debit card or net banking. Postal order, DD, money order, cheque and cash are not accepted.
- Only a single application per step per candidate is accepted, so decide in advance whether you are applying for one subject or several. Students submit an online undertaking to that effect.
- Submit the application yourself. CBSE states it will not be responsible for errors made by a third party such as a cyber cafe.
- The status and outcome appear in the same candidate login account. CBSE sends no separate individual communication, so check your login and the CBSE website.

Ignore the rumours, and protect your login
The notice closes with an appeal from CBSE to students and parents not to rely on unverified social media posts, rumours or unofficial sources about the result process, and says authentic information will come through CBSE’s own communication channels.
