NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam FAQ: City, Medium & Refund

NEET UG re-exam confusion usually starts with four things: city, medium, refund and centre. The official NTA FAQ gives limited but important clarity. Read the official PDF before acting on any forwarded claim.

What the NTA FAQ is meant to clarify

The official FAQ is not a full fresh information bulletin. It answers specific doubts around the NEET UG 2026 Re-examination process.

For students and parents, the practical use is simple: check what NTA has clearly allowed, what it has clearly not allowed, and where it has asked candidates to follow the Information Bulletin.

• Use the FAQ for re-exam-specific doubts.
• Use the Information Bulletin where the FAQ refers to language and location rules.
• Avoid treating social media summaries as official instructions.

City choice and present address

The FAQ says candidates could update their present address and choose two city options. This is important because many students confuse city option with final centre allotment.

A city choice helps the allotment process, but it does not mean the exact centre or school will be the same as earlier. The FAQ also says the re-exam centre may differ because centres are allotted based on the city selected.

• Check your city options only through the official route mentioned by NTA.
• Do not assume old centre, old school or old exam venue will repeat.
• Keep travel planning flexible until the official admit or centre details are available through the proper channel.

Medium selected earlier was final

The official FAQ says the medium selected in the original application was final and could not be changed. This is a key point for students who were hoping to change language for the re-exam.

If your preferred city was not available because of the address and medium combination, the FAQ tells candidates to refer to the NEET UG 2026 Information Bulletin language and location rules.

• Do not rely on unofficial promises of medium change.
• Do not submit personal data to anyone claiming they can change your medium.

Refund bank details: be careful

The FAQ says the bank account details module for refund was to be provided by 21 May 2026. This confirms that refund-related bank details were to be handled through an official module, not through random links.

Students and parents should be very careful with account number, IFSC, OTP, UPI PIN or screenshots. NTA-related financial information should be entered only on an official route when available.

• Do not send bank details on WhatsApp or Telegram.
• Do not share OTP or payment screenshots with strangers.
• Keep a copy of official acknowledgement if the portal provides one.

What students should not assume

The FAQ does not give permission to invent new dates, new medium-change options or fixed centre locations. If something is not clearly written in the official FAQ or linked official instructions, treat it as unconfirmed.

Parents should help students reduce panic by checking the official PDF first and then making a small action list: city, medium, refund module, and centre update.

• Do not assume selected city equals fixed centre.
