Review the official information bulletin for exact document formats.
Medical counselling moves quickly once registration and reporting begin. Your rank matters, but your documents decide whether verification is smooth. Keep originals, clear scans and category or domicile certificates ready before filling choices, because small paperwork gaps can slow down reporting or affect your allotment process.
Primary Academic and Identification Documents
The verification officers will first check your core identity and academic eligibility. You must carry the original NTA-issued NEET Admit Card and the final Scorecard showing your All India Rank.
Your Class 10 certificate serves as the primary proof of your date of birth. Your Class 12 marksheet and passing certificate prove your academic qualification for the medical track. A valid, original photo ID, such as an Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Voter ID, is mandatory to confirm your identity at the reporting center.
Category and Reservation Certificates
If you claimed a reserved seat during the application process, your category certificate is the most scrutinized document. For MCC counselling, your OBC-NCL or EWS certificate must adhere strictly to the Central Government format and fall within the valid financial year dates.
For state counselling, you must produce the category certificate issued by the respective state’s competent authority. Presenting an expired certificate or one in the wrong format will result in your conversion to the General category, heavily impacting your allotment chances.
State Domicile and Minority Certificates
While domicile certificates are not required for the 15% All India Quota managed by MCC, they are the backbone of the 85% state quota counselling. You must prove your residency status according to your state’s specific guidelines.
Similarly, if you are applying for linguistic or religious minority quota seats in specific private or deemed universities, you must carry the official minority certificate issued by the recognized authority.
Physical Disability (PwD) Certification
Candidates claiming PwD status cannot rely on standard medical certificates. The MCC mandates that PwD certificates must be issued exclusively by specific, designated disability assessment centers across India.
Check the official MCC brochure for the list of these designated centers and ensure your disability assessment is completed and certified well before the reporting window opens.
Preparing for Physical Reporting
When you are allotted a seat, you will be given a provisional allotment letter. You must carry this letter, all original documents, and at least two sets of self-attested photocopies to the allotted medical college.
Never laminate your original certificates before verification, as authorities often need to stamp or verify the authenticity of the paper directly during the admission process.
FAQs
Can I use a digital copy of my marksheet for MCC counselling?
No. While digital uploads may be required during online registration, you must present the physical, original marksheets at the medical college during final reporting.
What if there is a spelling mistake in my father’s name on my Class 10 certificate?
Minor spelling errors often require a legally sworn affidavit explaining the discrepancy. Prepare this affidavit through a notary before arriving at the reporting center.
Do I need a gap certificate for NEET counselling?
MCC generally does not ask for a gap certificate, but many individual state counselling authorities and medical colleges require a gap affidavit if you dropped a year after Class 12.
