CUET PG 2026 University Admission Next Steps & Portal Guide

CUET PG 2026 University Admission Next Steps & Portal Guide
Archived — this cycle has closed

This update covers a 2026 admission/exam cycle that has ended. Kept here for reference; check our Exams & Admissions hub for current-year updates.

Post-Result Action Plan

  • Download and save a backup of your official CUET PG scorecard from the NTA website.
  • Identify the individual official websites of your target participating universities.
  • Check these university portals for their PG admission notification bulletins.
  • Register on their separate counselling portals before their specific deadlines.
  • Prepare your final year graduation marksheets and provisional degree certificates.

With the NTA declaring the CUET PG 2026 results, the examination phase is officially closed. However, possessing a scorecard does not secure a postgraduate seat. The NTA acts solely as a testing agency and will not conduct seat allocations. Your immediate task is to transition from the NTA portal to the individual admission portals of your target universities.

Transitioning to University Counselling

Postgraduate admissions in the CUET framework are entirely decentralized. Central and state universities will independently publish their admission schedules, merit list criteria, and counselling fee structures on their own domains.

You must actively seek out the ‘PG Admissions 2026’ section on the websites of universities like JNU, BHU, DU, or other participating institutions. Relying on central notifications will cause you to miss critical institutional deadlines.

Mapping Your Score to PG Eligibility

Before paying a non-refundable counselling registration fee to a university, read their specific PG information bulletin. Verify that your undergraduate degree meets their specific academic prerequisites for the Master’s programme.

Different universities have varying aggregate percentage requirements for the qualifying graduation degree. A valid CUET PG score does not override a university’s basic academic eligibility rules.

Document Readiness for PG Verification

University document verification for postgraduate programmes is rigorous. You will need your Class 10 and 12 certificates, complete undergraduate marksheets (all semesters), a provisional or original degree certificate, and a migration certificate.

If your final semester graduation results are delayed, check the university’s policy. Most universities allow you to submit an undertaking, giving you a grace period to submit the final marksheet post-admission.

Monitoring Merit Lists and Spot Rounds

Universities will release multiple iterations of merit lists based on the normalized NTA scores submitted during portal registrations. If you are allotted a seat, you must accept it and pay the institutional fee within a narrow timeframe.

If your score is average, stay vigilant for late-stage spot rounds or mop-up counselling phases. Premium seats frequently fall vacant as students finalize their single preferred institution, causing cutoffs to drop in later rounds.

FAQs

Does NTA conduct a centralized counselling process for CUET PG?

No. The NTA is purely an examination body. All counselling and seat allocation is managed independently by the participating universities.

Can I register for counselling if my final year UG results are not out?

Yes, most universities allow provisional registration. You will be required to sign an undertaking and submit the final results by a specified deadline.

Is the counselling registration fee refundable?

Generally, the initial registration fee paid on university portals for participating in the counselling rounds is non-refundable.
