Why the Correction Window is Open

During the initial application phase, many students use cyber cafe accounts or temporary bank details to pay their exam fees. When refunds are initiated, sending money to these unverified accounts causes widespread transaction failures.

The NTA has opened this specific window to allow candidates to input their own active bank account details or their parents’ details, ensuring a smooth and direct transfer of the refund amount.

Mandatory Two-Factor Authentication

To secure the financial transaction, the NTA has implemented strict OTP-based two-factor authentication. You cannot change the bank details without access to the mobile number or email ID registered during the NEET application.

Ensure your registered phone is active to receive the OTP. Do not share this OTP with anyone, including individuals claiming to be NTA officials.

Details Required for Update

When updating your banking information, you must keep your bank passbook or a cancelled cheque handy. You will need to accurately enter the Account Holder Name, Bank Account Number, Bank Name, and the exact IFSC Code of the branch.

Double-check the IFSC code, particularly if your bank has recently undergone a merger, as old IFSC codes will cause the refund transfer to fail.

Avoiding Refund Fraud

Be vigilant against phishing attempts. The NTA will never call you asking for your bank details, UPI PIN, or OTP over the phone to process a refund.

Complete this correction process strictly through the official NEET website. Ignore WhatsApp forwards or SMS links promising expedited fee refunds.

Missing the Deadline

This correction window is open for a strictly limited time. If you do not verify or correct your details before the deadline mentioned in the official notice, the NTA will attempt the refund to the original payment source.

If that source is inactive or belongs to a cyber cafe, recovering your funds later will be highly complicated. Act immediately.
