Freeze
Choosing Freeze means you are happy with your allotted seat and do not want to be considered for any other option in later rounds. Your seat stays fixed, and you simply complete the reporting formalities. Pick Freeze when the allotted institute and branch are genuinely what you want.
Float
Choosing Float means you accept your current seat for now, but you are willing to be considered for a higher-preference choice in later rounds — this could be a better institute or a better branch. You keep your current seat as a safety net while hoping to move up. Pick Float when you would gladly take a higher choice but do not want to risk losing what you have.
Slide
Choosing Slide means you accept your current seat but are willing to move only to a higher-preference branch within the same institute. Your institute stays the same; only your branch may improve. Pick Slide when you like the institute but would prefer a different branch there.
How to decide
- If your allotment is exactly what you want, choose Freeze and relax.
- If you would happily upgrade to a higher choice anywhere, choose Float.
- If you love the institute but want a better branch in it, choose Slide.
- Whatever you choose, complete the reporting and fee steps on time, or the seat can be cancelled.
